The short explores a world of magic and science where people live on the magical island of Ta Ra Rum Pum. In this world, those who show creative talents are forced to wear a green sandal as a mark of shame. It is a term which was first used by film director Satyajit Ray. The short film also features the critically acclaimed British actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays the role of a sandal maker. For those who may not know the name "Satyajit Ray", he was one of the finest and most creative film producers in India. He was also known for his contribution towards Indian cinema and has featured in several films over the years such as "Shatranj Ke Khilari", "Sonar Kella", and "Apu Trilogy". The short film which was created by Japanese director, Masahiro Morioka is one of the most captivating and enchanting short films in recent memory. As with any short film, there is a lot which can be said about it. However, the director does an excellent job at telling a story which is full of magic and wonder. The film always feels like it's about to take off into something amazing or epic, but something always seems to stop it. This romantic atmosphere works very well as the viewer never feels bored throughout the film. There are several moments in "Ta Ra Rum Pum" where you forget that you're watching a short film and instead feel as if you're watching a feature length movie. Although there are three parts to the film ("Ta Ra Rum Pum", "Ta Ra Rum Pum 2: The Return of the Sandalmaker", and "Ta Ra Rum Pum 2: The Return of the Sandalmaker (2011)", they all flow together very nicely. Each part will make you feel like you're watching something which is more than just a short film. If you were on the fence about watching this film, I will say that if you're a fan of Satyajit Ray and Chiwetel Ejiofor, then this is definitely an absolute must watch for you. You will be able to take in the touching moments of this film. OVERALL RATING: 9.5 This short film is about an old man, who creates magicians' green sandals for all the children who are born with magic powers in the magical Island Ta Ra Rum Pum. "Sandalmaker" is a lonely man who loves to read books about his homeland and longs to travel there again one day. One day he makes a giant pair of green sandals by mistake which are meant for giants instead of children. The giant tries to wear them but they don't fit him properly, so he leaves the island empty handed, scattering the sandal parts across Ta Ra Rum Pum. cfa1e77820
